HIGHEST, the innovation and startup center of the Technical University of Darmstadt, is delighted with another success from its startups: Tec4med LifeScience GmbH, founded by Nico Höler and Julian Poths in 2017 with the support of HIGHEST, was recently acquired by Cryoport, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYRX), a global leader in products and services for the cell and gene therapy industry.

## Successfully Starting a Business During College

Nico Höler and Julian Poths, former students of TU Darmstadt, developed Tec4med as a solution provider and innovation leader in the transparency of pharmaceutical supply chains. Since its inception, Tec4med has continually evolved and built a diverse portfolio of innovative solutions. The acquisition by Cryoport, Inc. marks not only a milestone for Tec4med but also provides Cryoport with the opportunity to strengthen its presence in the European market. The innovative solutions from Darmstadt will complement Cryoport’s existing offerings and further solidify the company’s position as a leading provider in the cell and gene therapy industry.

## A long, successful journey

Nico Höler, co-founder of Tec4med, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: “Our journey began at TU Darmstadt with the support of HIGHEST, the innovation and startup center, and it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come since then. We are proud to be a part of Cryoport and look forward to the opportunity to contribute our innovative ideas and solutions to the cell and gene therapy industry.”

The success story of Tec4med is another example of how HIGHEST supports the development of startups and innovative companies.
